If you have any reason to believe that your engine is less reliable than
normal, do not, repeat DO NOT make flat approaches.

Yes, it may be better for the engine to do so during break-in.

However, if the engine goes away on a flat approach, you'll be
picking yourself up out of the corn-field.

Safety first. Equipment second.
