Larry: I don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but the reason for filing out the nicks is primarily to relieve any stresses induced by the impact. Those blades are under tremendous forces and tips are known to depart the A/C. (This will make a significant change to the prop's balance). At the very least, there was a service bulletin by McCauley (or was it Sensenich) that addresses filing procedures. Make sure you followed the recommendations. I'd worry less about balance. If it feels good, it probably is. Now the disclaimer: Filing and painting props is *NOT* covered under preventive maintenance and can only be performed by a licensed A&P.
