I would choose the factory setup because it is proven safe, is very simple, and parts will be available even when the 30 gal. company goes out of business. There is far more danger in the electric pump and check valves failing than fire because a tank is in the cockpit. The amount of plumbing in the cockpit remains about the same. I've worked on or seen many planes with no tanks in the cockpit leak fuel all over the cockpit. In a high-wing aircraft there are tanks right at your eye-level with rubber tubing that can pull loose in a crash.
It's also inappropriate to spend $3K on a plane worth $15K to begin with. I doubt that there will be any difference in the selling price because of installing 30 gal. tankage.
