This is a guideline and is representative of the cooling capacity, not any

limit.  It is for cruise, not climb.  In full power climb the airflow
through 
the cowl is less and the heat generated is greater.  

If you have a Stromberg, don't lean unless the density altitude is at
least 
5000 ft.  With a MS carb, don't lean unless the power output is less than 
75%.  You need the extra fuel for cooling and preignition protection.

I have never seen more than 200 degrees, but I have a C90 with a blast
tube 
on the oil screen housing.

Yes, it should.  I don't know what the explanation is, but it seems to be 
good for about 10 degrees.

BTW, you should see higher static rpm on a hot day than a cold day due to 
reduced density and prop load.
