I too was surprised that the "Official" Ercoupe page was set up through an
MS Community. I belong to two MS Communities, one of them being a family
oriented one, but I rarely go to either of them because the site is always
soooo slow and because of the onerous entry efforts which sometimes
continue
even if you have your passport! In fact, we have had a terrible time
getting members signed in because the system just doesn't always work. I
also don't want to advertise for MS or look at their ads.

I suspect the reason for using a generic website location was because it's
free. I promote that concept but I'm not sure that an MS Community is
the
best free site available. I know that Ed and others have gone to a lot of
work to put this together and I am not critical of their efforts. I
couldn't do what they have done, even on MS. I trust they expected some
complaints, and our sincere comments. Keep in mind, everyone, that this
is
an evolving experiment. It may prove out that MS is a good solution. It
may also prove out to be unworkable, and if that is the case the
experiment
will continue, I hope.

I think as many of us that can should try to get signed on so that we can
access the entire site as it is for a while, and then give the club our
positive and negative feedback so that whatever changes are appropriate
can
be made. And except for true nose art, and the occasional mile high
membership applicant, I agree with Spook that the site should not promote
distractive unsafe flying. :-)
