Craig, with such a wonderful opportunity for humor and levity, I find it
excruciatingly difficult to
hold my tongue and keep a straight face. But, as I have reformed, I will
refrain from suggestions such
as rigging a sling, or a correctly stacked pile of bricks under the wing.
Also, having everyone stand
on the right wing until the aircraft is underway would now be out of
character for me. Thus, I will
leave the corrective suggestions to those more knowledgeable the I.
On a lighter subject, I did finally get rid of the stowaway wasps in
my horizontal stabilizer. Went
out Sunday morning for a flight. It was about 40 degrees. Looking at the
nest, I could see that the
wasps were extremely lethargic. Putting a glove on my right hand, I
individually picked them off as
they exited the hole in the cross member. About the time I had a pile of
about 20 dead or dying on the
ground, using a screw driver, I pried the nest to the outside of the
stabilizer. with the angled ribs,
it forced the nest out and to the rear, putting it directly behind the
outer hole in the rear cross
member. It was then a piece of cake to pull it out. Luckily, the only
casualties were the wasps.
Those little buzzers will think twice about messing with me again.
