Hi Larry,
    You're right, that would be a challange!  My field is only 1700 feet
at 580 msl.
As for the turbo, I saw an interesting exibit at Arlington this Spring.  I
didn't pay a lot of attention as
I wasn't in the market but as I remember, it was a Subaru engine with a
turbo, gear reduction box and a long
pointed nose profile.  Just envision that on a coupe, it would resemble a
twin tailed Mustang.

  (Erco P-51C-T to tower, entering downwind for long final, knife edge
base and 200mph touch-n-go on 36 with
a snap-roll on departure, how do you read?)

  Hmmmmm......  I wonder if we'd have to include rudder pedals with this
