Glen, I differ with your train of though. Have you been to an air shows and looked at some of the truly classic aircraft there? It take someone with pure pride and it takes time and effort. (cash helps) The more you fly your airplane better it must be. The less hours you fly the less chances you take. The more you fly there is more opportunities for something to go wrong. I do believe your in a rut. Your thinking is set in cement. You will not change. We could go toe to toe and not see the light. > But that's OK!< John is just stating (mostly the facts of life.) That, yes, you can do anything you like. But don't let the FAA know it. (and please don't ask him to fly with you) And when you go to sell your airplane, don't sell it to someone that knows nota about airplane. >A good person that dose not make.< Yes, I am one of the people that sinks a lot of $$$$$ into airplanes. And I was not always able to. I understand anyone who can't. At any given time that could be me. But it is not a sport for anyone who just flat refuses to spend on parts that are needed. I shatter when anyone ask where to buy CHEAP PARTS. Is that Cheap parts for a Cheap ERCOUPE OR A CHEAP PERSON. Save money, very understandable. But at what cost to safety. Is it cheaper to spend now. Or repair later. A friend with a piper 180, engine 1000 hrs over TBO spends money on Oil and filters. "it costs less than a major overhaul" plus he flies it as if his life depends on it. It dose. Face it or don't we are in a Catch 22. FAA and common sense do not go hand in hand. Airplane are a sink hole, you can not fill with money. Well maybe Ted Turner could. But not us.
