The hole in the gerar leg (on a 415D anyway) is slightly less than 3/4 inch. The snap ring is an external one, but its inside a confined area where you
have to do the work. You won't have to deal with it if you just use the spacers. I agree with that method, unless you know your springs are shot. Earl NY N93826
