Steve, I have the Belleville springs and the dual fork nose gear. In order to get the tail up I have the MLG spacers installed. I would suggest you try that before replacing the springs. My tail sits nicely at 75" and handles much better than when it was low.
I was replacing the rubber spacers every annual and decided to switch to the springs about four years ago. Since then no problems.
