I got the silicon gaskets put on my plane last year after keeping them in the filing cabinet for about 10 years. It seems to have cured my oil leak problems.
When I mentioned how happy I was to my mechanic, he pointed out that the sets he and his son put on their planes were breaking down after 7+ years. They may not be great forever.
