Fellow coupers,
I have a 46' 415D w/C85 and 50 hrs. on a new set of cylinders.I have been
using Shell mineral oil since the overhaul for break in. I have changed
the
oil 3 times, the first after 10 hours. I have an EL RENO filter, at
present
the usage is 6 to 7 hrs./qt. The first 2 hr. the temp. was at red line but
has decreased to 350 F. Oil temp. was also at red line but has settled
dwn.to
180F.to 200F. There is very little vibration and it pulls through with
high
compression on all fours, it starts with one or two revs. Climb rate
600ft/min. and G. P. S. air speed@ 108mph cruise w/ a passenger.
California EPA has outlawed all fuel tanks without double casignings and
it
cost about $300,000.00 to replace the one in Corona. Corona has 100L.L.
but
it will take 3-6 mounths.to supply 80L.L.The nearest 80 is 50 miles
away.When
flying to Mesa,Az.I had to fuel up with 30 gal. of 100L.L.. I use T. C. P.
additive and 1oz./gal Mystery Oil to get me to the next 80L.L.. The
carburetor float valve has been changed to S.S.w / Teflon seal and the
float
has been weighted via Unvair.
My question is two fold
1-Should I change type of oil and what
kind?
2-Will T. C. P. stop lead foul and
will
Mystery Oil keep the
valve stems from sticking.Is There
harm
using 100L.L.?
All help and advice will be appreciated in advance.
Safe Flying,
99089er Charlie
