I won't engage in the technical aspects of this argument since I am not an engineer and realize that I am hampered by not being able to relate old wives tales by those who have not used the Slick mags but always seem to know how well they don't perform. I can only speak from actual experience, albeit limited (400 hrs). I can tell you at least on my engine that if I pull it through about 4-6 blades after priming it I can prop it and have it catch first blade every time. Now when I say prop I am not referrin to the classic swing your leg and really throw the prop. I can pull it right up to the compression point and just give it a gentle pull and listen for the click of the impulse then bang I have the fan turning. The impulse has more than sufficient kick to start mine on the first blade. Maybe mine is just a superior although very high time engine or maybe all the crap about the Slick's is just that or maybe my opinion is clouded by experience.
