OK, this is not that big in terms of users. I would not recommend just one box for SMTP, AV/Spam scanning and IMAP. I would have 1 or 2 SMTP Servers (possibly more depending on the level scanning you are doing per message). And a handful of IMAP Servers. But I've some extremes users ;-) Something is wrong with your test. I have folders with 50,0000 - 100,000 messages and message deletion is still immediate. Care to expound upon the problem?
