I repeat the dialog adding the tag you said, but I obten the same result:

Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE
THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION
STARTTLS] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2005 Double Precision, Inc.

A STARTTLS
A OK Begin SSL/TLS negotiation now.
Connection closed by foreign host.

I revised (one more time) the content of imapd-ssl. The setting of
COURIERTLS is correct (it is pointing to an existing executable file).
The certificate exists too, and indeed I tried to make it with the
utility mkimapdcert.

Yes, the running server waits after "OK Begin SSL/TLS negotiation now"

Any other clues? I'm certainly disoriented :-(

Greetings.
