Use virtual shared folders >instead of filesystem permission-based shared folders. > thanks for the answer, i did this today (and finally the folder shows up in thunderbird - this time under #shared). ich removed the etc/maildirshared file and created an index file in etc/shared/index, containing one line for the global shared folder. then i recreated the maildirs without the maildirmake special parameters. the folder does not belong to a virtual user as i wanted it to be global (i.e no login exists for a user with that home directory in the authentication database). then i issued /usr/lib/courier/bin/maildiracl -set /var/lib/courier/shared/Maildir/ INBOX.common anyone aceilrstwx on the folder which should give anyone full access to the shared mail directory (which it does). still, the actual disk file if i delete a message or move it elsewhere (out of the shared folder) remains in cur. the only thing that changes is, that the filename is added a T in the end. what am i still missing?
