System: Debian 4.19.0-6-amd64 (Buster 10)
Courier (mta): 1.0.6-1
Courier mta ssl: 0.76.3-5+de
Standard Debian install. Over the years I've altered the esmtpd, only
have one hosted domain.

Interesting problem that started about January 4 where users are getting
defers for dns failure or network down - but only on two domains:
recipients hosted by arsmpt.com which hello is: appriver.com - the fqdn
is eagleofva.com.1.0001.arsmtp.com
relevant mail.log shows:
Jan 7 15:59:35 <server> courierd:
started,id=0000000000080A02.000000005FF773DC.00004754,from=<senderemailaddress>,module=esmtp,host=<recepientserver>,addr=<recepientadress>
Jan 7 15:59:36 <server> courieresmtp:
id=0000000000080A02.000000005FF773DC.00004754,from=<senderemailaddress>,addr=<recepientadress>:
DNS lookup failed.
Jan 7 15:59:36 <server> courieresmtp:
id=0000000000080A02.000000005FF773DC.00004754,from=<senderemailaddress>,addr=<recepientadress>,status:
deferred
however, when I perform an mx lookup from the MTA computer, it clearly
shows the mail server. I've telnet'd to recipients server and manually
sent a message successfully.
I've got 18 messages in queue that are for people utilizing the primary
host domain. However, the log shows that other messages hosted by same
provider is getting through. It's two domains that I cannot get courier
to deliver any messages.
Any help would be appreciated.
I know I'm missing something, but since I'm able to telnet send an email
FROM the courier server to one of the servers in question, I think it
must be a courier issue. Could be wrong - been known to
happen.........rarely.
