Hi all,

We use Courier 0.37.2 (and love it!!)

I have some non-technical guys with laptops that roam around the globe.
They can dialup to a a local ISP who is in some type of global roaming group
with our ISP here in Australia.

receiving the mail is no problem as they just connect to mail.ourdomain.com
from anywhere using pop.

Outgoing mail is a different story, "relaying denied" messages from our
server is the usual problem (because they are now outside our network). It
is impossible to teach these guys how to modify the outgoing smtp server in
their client software everytime they use a different ISP (even if they knew
how to find out what the settings should be on an ISP per ISP basis)

I know I could setup a VPN form the Laptops to the mail server but, I know
there is a such thing as SMTP auth.

If we use SMTP auth, does everyone need to use it? (ie is it a global
setting)
can the people on the LAN keep using plain old SMTP?

What would the suggested best approach to solving this problem.

Thanks in advance.
Ian
