Well, I don't know the answer to 3) and I see you've got 2) sorted already.

I can make suggestions with 1) but sadly not more than that.

1) Did you re-run "configure" after changing the setup of your system? In
order to re-configure successfully, you need to erase all the config.cache
files from the source tree. There is a make command to do this - something
like "make distclean" or something similar...
2) Did you rerun "make" and "make install" and "make install-configure"
after "configure"?
3) Did you remember to copy the newly recompiled webmail binary to the
cgi-bin directory of your mailserver?
4) Is there anything from the output of any of the commands run that
confirms that ispell was found, and compiled correctly into the binary? Or
any error reports?
