It was number 3)

I didn't cp -p /usr/local/libexec/courier/webmail/webmail
/usr/local/www/cgi-bin/webmail

I was using an old webmail binary, that was configured without ispell or
aspell

I didn't think this was necessary, because I had noticed webadmin adjusted
itself,  when I re-installed without LDAP and webmail was working when I
reinstalled with Expect, for password changing, and GNUPG

I am always amazed when I get help to my questions, thanks,

What is the below area in sqwebmail, under the preferences for?
Mailing List > Enter the addresses of mailing lists you are subscribed to
(one per line)
