Yes I read the FAQ and I still don't know what to do.
The FAQ tells you it's a client issue.
and When I try to send under mozilla it want's to put the outgoing message
in a sent folder on the server. It complains that it cannot create the send folder.
Configure the client properly. I happen to know that with Mozilla, you need to go into "Account Settings -> Copies & Folders", click "Other" for each special folder setting, and select the correct folder from the pulldown menu.
I look at the FAQ for this site and my clients settings seem to get the INBOX and shared things correct. But there is also this ROOT folder box. and the faq doesn't mention root just the separator.
On outlook with exchanges I can create folders that are peers of the inbox.
Can I do this here with courier?
You don't, because that, again, is a client issue.
The IMAP client that I'm using, for example, can be set up to display any folder next to INBOX, for any IMAP server. No special server configuration is required.
