[courier-users] PAM

I've just installed imap-courier 1.7.0 on a Red Hat Linux 8.0 box running qmail. I followed the install doc to the letter. courier-imap starts but I can't login. When I try to telnet in I get NO Login Failed. I made changes to the /etc/pam.d/imap files but it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
