I've just installed imap-courier 1.7.0 on a Red Hat Linux 8.0 box running qmail. I followed the install doc to the letter. courier-imap starts but I can't login. When I try to telnet in I get NO Login Failed. I made changes to the /etc/pam.d/imap files but it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
For Red Hat, you need to follow the instructions for building binary RPMs, which will properly configure PAM for you.
