Dear all, we are considering to develop a new feature for the courier imap daemon that should improve the performance of the SEARCH command. Our point is that we want thousands of users been able to make searches into its mailboxes (which are growing day by day) without loading a lot disk drives.
We are in the first steps, trying to analyze our options & alternatives, and our first approach is to modify the source code of the courier's SEARCH implementation in order to make it use an index back-end produced by lucene or whatever. And we have some questions we need you to answer. Thanks in advance. 1. Do you know any other project or innitiative trying to make something simmilar? 2. We are not considering make our fork of the courier project, how could we work in a collaborative way? 3. Is our approach feasible? 4.
