It was installed as a result of the command: sudo aptitude install mdadm

This gives:
/usr/sbin/sendmail

The funny thing is, I've got a second Ubuntu 8.04.1 server of similar specs,
similar software installed (i.e. not very much! mdadm, Courier, mutt, that's
about it) on which mutt sends mail fine. Of course, that doesn't mean mutt's
not the culprit on the server that has the problem... Still, I'd be glad for
what to check next to help pin down what's causing the problem.
Thanks,
Sam
