exact name of the server that holds the mailboxes. This would mean that we have to modify the schema of the Microsoft AD so that the attribute mailhost is available. In our case, the mail boxes are located at a particular machine for all the users. So, is there a way to define a fixed server name for the location of the mail boxes (rather than defining the name on a per user basis) and avoid the modification of the schema of the Active Directory?
No.However if all mailboxes are on a single server, use a firewall rule to forward port 143 to your server.
