Hello All, First off, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Melanie Berlin, and I've just been hired as the Office Manager for a space called PariSoMa in San Francisco. You can check us out at parisoma.wordpress.com. We are just now beginning to rent out desks for co-working, so we're still trying to figure everything out. I myself am more used to managing more traditional corporate offices, so I'm still learning as well. :)
I have a couple of questions that I was hoping to get some advice on. First off, I'm wondering what other spaces have been doing if people want to share desks. We decided to try just charging a bit more than the cost of one person renting a desk to cover key and storage expenses. If your space allows desk sharing and also has locking file cabinets, do you have the people sharing the desk also share the same file cabinet? Any suggestions on how we should handle this? Also, we are just now getting office insurance for our space, and are wondering how other spaces handle personal liability insurance. Do you require co-workers to carry liability or renters' insurance before renting a desk? What about workers' comp? If someone is injured or has something stolen or damaged in your space, whose financial responsibility is it, and is there a way to word the contract so that the responsibilty lands on the individual and not us? Any help or info would be appreciated!! Thanks!
