Hi Brian,

Congratulations on opening your space!

My name is Jay Catalan, one of the co-founders of The Network Hub in
Vancouver, B.C. We started our space back in 2006 and we've utilized
the Meetup groups since we opened. We actually participated in several
of these meetups, and other networking events, even before we started
The Network Hub. We found them to be a great way to network for our
web design company at the time.

Several of these Meetup groups did not have a regular place to meet,
so it just made sense to offer up our space for free once we opened
our doors. Most of the members of the groups we belonged to were
already ideal members, as they mostly operated from homes or cafes, so
it was a good fit.

One of these groups were not as active at the time and needed a new
organizer. We decided we could be the official sponsor for the
Vancouver Entrepreneur Meetup, and my partner, Minna Van, took over as
the group's organizer. We only had a handful of people show up for
that first meetup, but we now regularly have over a hundred attendees
for the monthly event, and the group has become the second largest
Meetup group in Vancouver.

We've also donated our space to events such as WordCamp, DemoCamps,
social media gatherings, and various local small business events.
They've helped us a great deal in organically spreading the word about
The Network Hub in the local community.

I recommend asking your current members, as well as yourself, what
groups/events you and them are genuinely interested in participating
in; and see if the groups would be interested in using your space for
their events.

Cheers,

Jay Catalan
