We put together a *very* comprehensive "Guide to the Hive" that covers both of our locations and runs about 5 pages of pure content. It's probably overkill but people can skim and find what they need to.
I go over the key points in person with new members and also email it to them. There's a hardcopy at the spaces, and it's posted to a group site that I set up recently: http://beahive.groupsite.com/ -- which I invite new members to when I email them the Guide. I'll forward it if anyone wants a gander. On that members site, we have a Twitter list feed of, um, members and some standard social networking/collaboration features. I just set up a couple weeks ago. So far 2/3 of our members have joined it. A few are actually using it. I created a discussion "Overview of This Members Site" on how best to use it.
