Hi Brian, I would agree with Drew, network, network, network and use social media like Twitter and Linkedin / Facebook to get talked about. Try to find out where your target audience can be found and be there!
Some things which have worked for us: Networking at Jelly events with people who appreciate coworking but aren't yet signed up with another venue. Free Passes - initially "Free Fridays" for a month but now we issue a month-long free pass for upto 5 days. Interestingly the number of converts from free pass to membership is very low - but the word of mouth from free pass users to recommend us to potential members has been high. Art Events - we use the walls as a gallery space for local artists and the Private Views have brought in lots of potential members and word of mouth recommendations. Coffee & Cake members networking on Friday Mornings - this usually brings in lots of members guests too, and several have subsequently become members. Professional events - setting up a website / social media training / PR / etc - this has brought in external participants who mix with our members. Local business directory - advertorial coverage of our space and the benefits of working from here - this has gone to 12,000 local homes. Email news letter - set up so that everyone who has touched us gets a regular round-up of whats been happening and what is coming up. Hope this is useful...
