Agreed with what Bianca said. We allow the space to be used for events that are beneficial to Indy Hall membership in one way or another. We have very strong preference to events that are organized or led by members, and treat everything else in a case by case basis.
It's a slippery slope once you're renting the workspace to other groups, especially as your full time membership grows. Now that we're at >30 full time people, a large-scale event in the space means packing up everybody's things and moving them. That's gotta be VERY beneficial to our members, so we only do it for parties and events that members can attend. Two weekends ago, we hosted our second ever 100% private event in 4 years, a wedding of one of our members. They actually got married and held the reception at Indy Hall. It was awesome to be a part of their special day and see how they re-imagined Indy Hall as a place to get married. When we get pictures, I'll post them! Bottom line - we run this decision through the same filter we run every decision through: (how) does this benefit the members? If the answer is no or unclear, we typically say no. -Alex /ah indyhall.org coworking in philadelphia On May 17, 8:34 am, Bianca Rico <[email protected]> wrote: > Jordan, > I think renting out for event space is great for revenue and for > advertising.
