Caroline Collective has hosted a wedding reception but no wedding. In unrelated history: Alex, Tara and myself did crash a wedding reception the weekend CC opened.
To add to Alex's comments below: More than likely you've structured your coworking space to provide the highest value for its coworkers. This means anything you choose to do at the space outside that goal could reduce value for these anchor members. Just because you have a large room does not mean it is an event space. This is especially true if that large room houses your full-time desk members. Show your work: When Caroline Collective was in its infancy we had our dedicated desk space in the same location as the place we would hold events. We held a large number of events the first several months we were open and each time these people would have to move. Obviously this was a problem for these people and for their ability to do work. We've now moved our dedicated desk space to a private section of the building that is never used as desk space and we have our light members in the room where we do events. The number of events that we hold has been significantly reduced to continue providing value for the people who really matter: the members. Currently, we do not plan events during the work day at all unless there are no other options and we have given ample notice for our light members. The bottom line is that if you're going to do events at your space, it should have been part of the plan from the beginning. Holding regular events in a space that is not designed for it is a competing goal with trying to create a fertile workplace for the community.
