Excellent question. We haven't had to answer it because we've never charged for meeting rooms or allowed non-members to use them. It seems people either consider themselves in the meeting room business, or they avoid the issue all together. I'd be interested to look more into the gray areas like you are talking about here.
As I've gotten more and more clear with what our personal philosophy is, I've started to open up to the idea of supplementing coworking with meeting room rentals. The key for me has been to separate the two and understand them as different and distinct models rather then all wrapped up together. Our physical space doesn't lend itself to really exploring this thoroughly so I'm looking at how different spaces handle it.
