As a borderline Lurker, I would say that you have to bring the conversation to the point where the Lurker is invested or passionate about the things being discussed. Dispassionate co-workers are often the ones who come and go, I think (please note that my experience is limited), which is why this article actually has punch. In this instance, it was a *passionate*coworker that left. Passionate, yet still not involved in this discussion.
That's the thing about this group. It *feels *like it is meant for Coworking Space Owners/Operators/Stakeholders (in the traditional sense), even though it's not. Why does it feel that way? Probably because that's who's here, and that's who the threads seem to relate to the most. Advice on outreach, advice on setting up a new space, advice on management software; it's all most relevant to Coworking Space Owners/Operators/Stakeholders (in the traditional sense). If you want to know what the Lurkers think, start threads asking questions that the CSOOSes can't answer. Ask questions that will have embarrassing answers, and be willing to accept these answers without heating up because some of these answers might be about you. Ask what the worst thing is about the Coworking Space that the Lurker works at now, hope that Lurkers are brave enough to answer without anonymity, and then ask how to fix it. In my opinion.
