The whole plan looks very sensible, and I've even written Metabase::Archive::S3 and Metabase::Index::SimpleDB: http://github.com/acme/metabase/commit/9f9bc4f927ec078a7ea189a90b40bc2ed9e9e5c2 But for notifications we can use PubSubHubbub, XMPP, AMQP or some sort of HTTP long-polling. It's not really important - as long as there is an Atom feed first the rest can follow at a later time. Leon
