I believe we would need more details about your troubles. Regarding CPS performances, I think there were some benchmarks showing that CPS was faster, especially in high volume situations. I also believe CPS' CPSDirectory + CPSUserFolder to be a finely thought out architecture. Regarding upgrades, we have started some times ago to include automatic upgrade scripts, though I understand they would benefit from some testing because this is always tricky.
