Knocking off capitalism is a snap, Tony. Just cut off the fuel supply. This
is being accomplished by natural conditions and will be well under way to
completion withing 20 years, without your having to raise a finger.

[Tony] "If you knock marxist theorizing as being not of import to avoiding the
crash, then you must seem to also believe that capitalist society can be
reformed into avoiding its current destructiveness."

Faulty logic, sir. I harbor no great fondness for capitalism --- not even in
theory. But all the Marxist theory I've seen around here seems concerned with
'overthrowing' capitalism. I have yet to see a lucid, practical,
easilly-digested socialist or Marxist plan or vision for avoiding the
'crash.' I'd also be interested in how socialists would "reconstruct what's
left of it to reconstruct" in the absence of an easilly and cheaply available
supply of energy and other essential resources based on petroleum (chemical
feedstock, fertilizer). We can't eat ideology, Tony. What's the plan?

A couple of related questions come to mind, which the Komsomol might like to
answer for me briefly in conjunction with the above explanation:

Which country currently practices a political/economic system which, if
emulated by the rest of the world, would be sustainable for the next thousand
years --- or even the next hundred?

How does socialism function in the absence of ample energy supplies and
adequate resources with an environment and climate under sever stress?

Well, have at it, Comrades. And please try to keep the sloganeering and
rhetoric to a minimum.
