resulting in auto-disenfranchisement, and the latest open disenfranchisement in 
Florida should be considered in this larger context and cynicism. 

I am still waiting to see how much the Florida coup generates new , mass struggle over 
this issue.


Tahir: Charles this is very well put, but one wonders what would emerge if one 
unpacked this phenomenon further. It would be interesting to know who votes and who 
doesn't in a situation like this. In South Africa now, we are already seeing a marked 
slowdown in voter turnout, less than 7 years after the first ever democratic elections!
