They never spawn in the game, not even with polymorph and regular zombies;
they are there for show_player_species and a showcase vault.

I thought that it is safe because of vampires in bat form already using
this colour -- that is, the player and not monsters.  The vampire bat can
never go out of LOS -- indeed, it is always in the very center.

For terminals with 8 colours only (old versions of Mac's Terminal.app and
the console of Red Hats from ~1996) you need to redefine your settings
anyway, since like half of information is presented in dark gray.
But, perhaps someone can enlighten us: what was the original reason for the
change?  I believe it was separating out-of-LOS from LOS on non-broken
terminals.
