Martin and Fellow CRM SIG Members,
I am a “free agent with portfolio” that includes being a founder of
FactMiners.org. FactMiners.org is the “wrapper” around the #cidocCRM-specific
applied research agendas that I have described in prior posts to this list. At
this stage, FactMiners.org is transitioning from E28 Conceptual Object to E74
Group. :D
I personally most certainly support and look forward to participation in the
CRM SIG. And FactMiner.org, as an “emerging” organization, also most certainly
supports and encourages my participation in the CRM SIG on its behalf.
Therefore, I would be very pleased if my name would be put to a vote for
membership in the CRM SIG at the upcoming meeting or by whatever means
appropriate.
Thank you for interest and support.
Happy-Healthy Vibes,
-: Jim :-

Subject: Re: [Crm-sig] Quick Question about CRM SIG membership
Dear Jim,
CIDOC membership is encouraged but not necessary for the CRM SIG membership.
CRM SIG plays a particular role in this sense.
CRM SIG is interested in the support of the institutions our members belong to,
in particular
the engagement to participate in meetings, which are vital to this work.
Therefore we would
like to know your affiliation, and, if you are not free-lancer, if your
institution supports
your participation. We use to accept members by a formal e-mail vote or vote at
the next meeting.
You'll be welcome to the Group,
Martin

I have electronically submitted my ICOM membership application, selecting CIDOC
as my “voting interest” sub-community. My Individual dues “check is in the
mail,” and Molly at ICOM-US has explained that my application has been
forwarded to Paris HQ where the next steps of processing my membership will
happen. (This being a process that may take 6-8 weeks to complete, maybe less.)
My question here is, given my pending ICOM CIDOC membership, how do I formally
request membership in the CRM SIG?
I will happily comply with whatever process is appropriate for CRM SIG
membership as the idea that I would be a contributing member of this group at
this time is beyond exciting to me. I believe the #cidocCRM is poised to “rise
above” its ontological/descriptive roots and head into the all-important role
as an executable metamodel for the purposes of software design and development
of a new generation of “smart” software complemented by “smart” data.
The idea that I may have an opportunity to contribute to this effort – after
circling the drain for a year and another crawling out – is more than I could
have ever hoped-for as a result of my inexplicable good luck to have survived
my cancer battle when so many of my treatment buddies did not.
