The incident shows that the backup/recovery mechanisms are not adequate for Gerrit. At least the EGit repository is in a corrupted state since the incident, which has brought EGit development to a standstill. I really mean "corrupted"; it's not just "some commits are missing, push them again". Please see bug 575252 [1] and bug 575193 [2] (and there especially Matthias's comment [3]).
