Yeah, you'll be able to hook up just the coil for now... you actually 
disconnect the +/- from the ignitor (just remove the cap and they're right 
there) and run a wire to your coil, then when you put your MSD cap on, 
either drill a hole for the wires to feed thru, or remove the rubber grommet 
on the top like I did.

Note the picture that I've included, it's got the coil that MSD reccomends 
for hondas running the 6A ignition (it's resting on my intake manifold) :

One last point: That is NOT how it's sitting in my CRX, I was still working
