Seeing as how we're on the subject and im too lazy too look through my manuals what octane gas should i run in my D16Z6. Im presently running 93 as well and my timing is stock as far as i know. I do plan on advancing my timing at least to 18deg BTDC. At least thats what i remember the specs as being. 16+-2 degrees.

At any rate can the engine run without knocking at timing advanced to 18 degrees with 87 piss gas? Assuming everything is functioning properly ofcourse.

P.S. thanks to all who helped me with the head work i was doing. You all know who you are. Everythings running like butter now. Cept for the flat tire I got this weekend. :)

Same thing -- those engines didn't require high octane fuel.  They had a
low CR.
