  Well, the CRX isn't a very good drag car to begin with.  The stang has
major advantages in that it's rear wheel drive and has a lot more torque. 
Why don't you challenge your friend to an autocross instead?  You'll walk
all over him.

If you still want to make it fast straight line I'd prob. go with a B18
and forced induction rather than the H22. . . the H22 is so heavy that
you'll destroy the handling characteristics of your car.
