geez. I hate questions like this. Beat it in what? You already beat it in fuel economy, fun factor, interior trim, reliability, price, cornering, cargo room, looks, ergonomics, utility, practicality, weight, and at least a dozen other categories that I'm too tired to think of right now. What more do you want?

what year 5.0 mustang? How fast is this particular 5.0 mustang? How good is its driver? How good a driver are you? what have you done to your CRX? How much money can you spend? What type of race? What type of surface?

Questions like this are far too generic and will not draw useful answers. It's like asking someone "what do you get when you divide 40 by ?"
Not enough info.

Also, what's with the fascination with beating 5.0 mustangs lately? Seems I see this question everywhere I go.

If you're talking about beating the mustang in a straight line (and you probably are, because that's what all the other people asking about beating 5.0 mustangs want) you may as well forget it. Sure, you can hop up your car like crazy and get it to go really fast in a straight line but you'll probably ruin the handling in the process, AND the guy in the mustang won't have to spend much money to get his car to beat yours again.

If you own a car, you should take advantage of the strengths of that car rather than trying to make it into something it's not. The CRX's strength is cornering. Trying to make it into a drag car is as pointless as making a funny car into an autocrosser. Build on the car's strengths, not it's weaknesses!

ok guys, here is my question, what do I need to beat a mustang 5.0 in a CRX ( excluding turbo or nitrox. )

let's suppose that I have a 88-91 Si.

Be a bit more specific ~ Straight line (i.e. 1/8th mile drag), AutoX or Open Track?

And why the need, just out of curiosity?
