If you are talking about beating a mustang at 0-60 straight line or quarter mile. A mustang 5.0 does a quarter with small mods about 13.8's to 14.5s depending on driver and weather condition, tires etc. Considering the fact that you said no nitrous and no turbo I assume swapping motor is an option. If you throw in a b16a or b18c5 with minor mods like air filter, cams, headers, exhaust you should be able to hit quarter mile time of 13.5s-14.00 easily on drag radials or slicks.
P.S. To someone that says stick to CRX's strengths not weakness.. CRX is not made to be a straight line beater.. Any car can be made fast. Whether it be import or domestic. Just need shit load of cash. I've encountered a freakin metro at Pomona Raceway doing 11.10's on turbo and nitrous off a 3 cylinder built motor! If you pick up any import mags u can see tons of fast crx's at the drag events. Ed bergenholtz's mid 9 second crx for example.
