lol good answers, I mean a crx stock, no swap, and the mustang could be automatic ( stock too ), let's stop both cars count 3 and race, what do I need to beat the mustang?
(* snip *)
In a straight line race, you basically won't have a chance. The raw horsepower from the 5.0 will just over take the CRX. You may take him off the line but the raw horsepower from the 5.0 will overtake you. This was one of the main reasons why the California Highway Patrol (CHP) selected the Ford Mustang 5.0 back in the 1980s. They needed something that could catch the *smaller* imports (amongst others). Then they switched over to the Camaro Z28. But that might have also been from a budget stand point.
If we were talking AutoX, then the Stang would be at a disadvantage. At an Open Track type venue, it will depend on the layout. If it has more turns than straights, then you have a good chance.
While the CRX has a very good power-to-weight ratio, it's agility (even stock) is one of it's strengths over the 5.0, IMHO.
If you want to beat a 5.0 in a straight line race, remove about 4 of the spark plug wires and it should be a dead even match. :^)
