Maybe they are forced to stretch a little more, causing the tear?  Im
just speculating on that one.  Maybe as road crap gets on them and when
one side is stretched, the other side is sandpapering itself a hole.

Hehe, aint that the truth.  We tried full boots, but the darn things only
come off one side of the axle (forgot which one) on my car so you have to
disassemble both joints.  Then we tried the split boots, but those didn't
last very long either.  Maybe its just my driving! ;P
