Are you in CA by chance? I'm pretty sure that in CA, you need to have a USDM motor in your car, since overseas engines don't have the strict compliance with emmisions that the US requires. At least for on-road vehicles. Most other states, AFAIK, you can use a non-stock/imported motor. I'm not sure if you would be able to pass emissions though, just based on the visual. I know where we live in WI, we don't have emissions testing, and I've never had a problem with my JDM B16A.
