If you
get it only when you're using the plug-in discman, there's only two ways it
could really be introduced into the system (assuming you don't have this hum
while you're listening to the CD player when it's NOT connected to the head
unit): through the cigarette lighter or through the 1/8" plug hookup. Try
eliminating both to see where your issue is.
Try
using a different mini plug cable to hook the portable CD player up to the head
unit. If that solves it, then keep using the better connection! If not,
then it's coming through the power line plugged into the cigarette lighter. You
can test this by using batteries instead of the cigarette hookup.
Once
you figure out where the noise is coming in, you can then work to eliminate
it.
